You can use the USB adapter and a USB hub to plug in multiple controllers and it will work fine on an iPad, but you wind up with a lot of cable management, which can be a hassle. I know you can get a lightning connecter to USB adaptor, which enables you to connect one midi device via USB to an iPad, but what about connecting multiple MIDI devices? Would any of these inerfaces by IK Multimedia work?.
How would I go about connecting both the Alesis keytar and the foot controller to an iPad? Is it possible? Also how would I get the audio from the iPad to the mixer? The Alesis keytar runs off wireless midi USB dongle and the 12 step is wired midi USB. However, I'm considering getting an iPad as it's a bit more portable for live use, and running SampleTank on it for my keyboard sounds. Currently I own a Windows 10 laptop (which has 4 standard USB inputs) running Cubase and a bunch of VSTs. I'm wondering what is the best way to hook these up to a sound source. I'm planning on using an Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 keytar plus a Keith McMillan 12 step to play the left hand keyboard parts with my feet, thus enabling me to play '2 handed' parts with the keyar/foot controller combination.
